TRAI Centre of Studies and Research (TCSR), in collaboration with Ericsson, conducted a knowledge session on "AI Framework, Governance, and Applications" on 28th August 2024 at 3:00 pm. Four distinguished speakers from Ericsson, Dr. M. Saravanan, Mr. Kaushik Dey, Mr. Swarup Kumar Mohalik, and Mr. Umang Jindal, were invited. Their presentations delved into the use of AI in telecommunications, exploring development processes and real-world applications. The session further shed light on regulatory considerations, governance issues, and associated challenges.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming industries worldwide by enabling machines to perform tasks that traditionally required human intelligence, such as decision-making, problem-solving, and pattern recognition. In the telecommunications sector, AI is increasingly being utilized to optimize networks, enhance user experiences, and streamline operations. Given its potential to revolutionize telecom technologies, TRAI Centre of Studies and Research (TCSR) selected this topic to explore the profound impact AI is having on network governance, regulatory frameworks, and the future of telecom infrastructure, including emerging technologies like 6G.
Additionally, the discussions covered advancements in decision-making frameworks, neural networks, Generative AI, and AI-native 6G technologies. Topics such as neuromorphic AI, adaptive intelligence, and energy-efficient strategies for reducing power consumption were also examined. The event underscored the importance of AI regulations and ensuring trustworthiness in the evolving AI landscape, offering a comprehensive view of the future of AI in telecom.
